Copper slag flotation was studied on an industrial scale at a concentrator plant in the region of Atacama, Chile. This study consisted of the physical, chemical, and mineralogical characterization of the copper slag, along with preliminary flotation tests. This article focuses on industrial flotation, which consisted of two oneyear campaigns (2016 and 2017).

What is claimed is 1. A process for the recovery of metal values from copper smelter slag material which comprises mixing with agitation a unit part by weight of slag and about a unit part by weight of concentrated sulfuric acid to form an acid-slag mixture, incorporating in the acid-slag mixture about a unit part by weight of water, and allowing the mixture to react to produce a dry, solid
The special feature of LEGRAN’s metal slag processing system at the Lippe Plant is the way the material is treated. The slag and spent refractories need to be pulverised before they can be processed and this job is carried out by a rod and ball mill which dates back to the time when the site used to produce aluminium.
Copper slag is a by-product formed during the copper smelting process. The molten copper forms at the bottom of the furnace while molten slag is formed on top. The molten copper slag is then drained off and quenched with water or left in the air to cool. In Singapore, treated and processed copper slag (Mohs Hardness ≥6) is imported from various

A technological scheme for copper slag processing is proposed. It comprises 5 stages, namely: (i) air oxidation of the copper slag at a temperature above 800 °C for 2 h; (ii) hydrothermal

Value-added Uses for Copper Smelting Slag . Proposed by Freeport -McMoRan Background Copper smelting is a high-temperature process that separates elemental copper from copper concentrates. Smelting leaves behind “slag” from the refining process. Once it leaves the smelter, the slag is poured onto the slag stockpile and is cooled in layers.

The main advantage of this type of furnace is strap slag processing possibility, while recycling copper containing materials such slag is formed and because of high zinc and tin containment such slags have high viscosity. The ability to mix producing slag allows to receive waste slag with low copper containment.
Copper slag, or fayalite slag, is a by-product obtained during the matte smelting, converting and refining of copper (Fig. 7.11). 54,59 It has been estimated that for every tonne of copper produced, about 2.2 tonnes of slag is generated, 60 as a consequence of the relatively low grades of copper concentrates now available.
Air-cooled copper slag has a black colour and glassy appearance. The specific gravity varies with iron content, from a low of 2.8 to as high as 3.8. The unit weight of copper slag is somewhat higher than that of conventional aggregate. The absorption capacity of the material is typically very low (0.13%).

Copper slag is a by-product created during the copper smelting and refining process. As refineries draw metal out of copper ore, they produce a large volume of non-metallic dust, soot, and rock. Collectively, these materials make up slag, which can be used for a surprising number of applications in the building and industrial fields.
slag piles at about 129 processing plants (including some iron and steel plants with more than one slag-processing (especially copper slag), whose unit values are outside the range expected for granulated slag. In some years, tonnages may be underreported. 4.
In the second treatment beginning with a water quench (fig. 4), the crushing operation is eliminated. Evaluations are based on the processing of 500 and 1,000 tons of slag per day, Process for Slow-Cooled Slag. Slag from the copper converter is skimmed into ladles, which are hoisted to a tilting machine.
eral processing has maintained copper output; however, with lower feed copper content and increasing energy and water use per unit of output, extraction costs have been increasing in important copper mines. By-Products | Sterlite Copper (A Unit of Vedanta Limited) Ferro Sand (Copper Slag) Ferro Sand (also known as Copper Slag) is a by-product generated during pyro-metallurgical process to produce Copper. Sterlite Copper produce approximately 6,00,000 MT of Copper Slag per annum. Ferro Sand is non-toxic, non-leachable and non hazardous material in

The general objective of RECOVER is to produce full scale final inorganic polymer products, from Aughinish red mud and Boliden and Metallo copper slag, at the respective companies’ sites, using a modular and mobile upscaling unit. Schematic of the project concept and related partner roles. The following specific objectives have been set for
Slag formed in the smelting and converting reactions flows to the slag well. Slag cleaning occurs as a result of contact with lower grade matte in passing through zone 1, by the roast reaction of copper sulfide and copper oxides by the reduction of copper oxide by sulfur and ferrous sulfide, and by the reduction of magnetite.

The Egyptian copper smelting furnace was filled with a mixture of copper ore, charcoal and iron ore to act as a flux. It was blown for several hours by foot or hand bellows. By the end of the smelt the copper had separated from the slag, which was tapped off.
